I like the fact (even though I am a married woman of 25 years) that the artist for the cover placed a female on the front of the book for the "Shifting Plains" it is a very interesting look apart from the "Sons of Destiny"... _________________ Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle.

Well, what I really, really loved were the German versions of the first two SoD books. Those were exactly what I pictured in my mind (ooh, scary, heehee), and they are male/female friendly.
That being said, I am female. And I'm not going to turn away nekkid male chest. Particularly if you place it in front of me in eight different flavors.
With that said, however...I am a rabid equalist. Therefore, I cannot and will not object in any way, shape, or form to having female covers that are equally as chesty. (Within the bounds of modern decency standards, since apparently I'm some sort of law-abiding citizen or something...)
...Except I did lolcat the cover of this book when I first saw it, "I Can Haz Cleavage Nao?" XD
Still, men should have nice covers to look at, too, wouldn't you agree?
Jean
P.S. Particularly since I've received several letters, emails, and comments whinging about how the male-chesty covers aren't macho enough for a man to be seen reading in public...and that's when I tell 'em, "Remember what you did back in high school with a paper bag and your math textbooks?" _________________ Scripto, Ergo Sum

I have to agree about the guys not having any trouble reading this one out in public I also think that more guys might buy this and read it anyway out in public or not _________________ Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle.

Hmm. I think I need to do a poll of guys to see if they'd pick it up to read, and if they'd feel uncomfortable or not reading a book with SHIFTING PLAINS' particular style of cover when out and about in public...

LOL, my first thought was that this cover was chosen with the idea of getting more male readers interested. _________________ In order to be old and wise, you must first be young and stupid. |

I actually read Shifting Plains on a road trip from Kentucky To Florida right after Christmas.
It was me, 2 nephews, a niece, my mom, and my sister. The kids are all tweens and teens, but my mom and my sis said that the cover was too racy so I had to continually keep it hidden. I think it was the cleavage.
It was a good book though. |

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, the covers are a bit racy. (At least they warn you of the contents, lol!) The mother of one of my college friends made "book cozies", slip-on jackets for paperbacks out of quilting cotton. They were quite pretty...just not quite large enough for a thick-spined book. She had made them more to fit a Harlequin Romance (which really aren't all that racy) than a standard bodice-ripper sized novel.
