The First Salik War

The First Salik War trilogy is a three part story exploring how the Humans of Earth reached out into the stars and found more Humans out there who had not lived on Earth for nearly ten thousand years…along with the nasty, rapacious Salik and several other alien races.

Taking place roughly 200 years before the events in the series Theirs Not To Reason Why, the story follows two people: Jacaranda MacKenzie, a lifelong public servant who is also a polyglot telepathic translator among other things; and Li’eth Ma’an-uq’en, a captain in the V’Dan Imperial Navy with a certain lifelong association with politics himself.

This is a series full of all the wonder and all the headackes of both First Contact and Political Science Fiction themes.  It takes a closer look at what it might take to actually meet with new species, figure out how to get along diplomatically, and how individual choices can sometimes wreak havoc personally, and threaten to wreck entire alliances.

Many readers have said they considered it a story that has been perfectly balanced between awesomely told First Contact science fiction and a slow burn romance that has been woven throughout the trilogy.  So if you like romance and want to try some science fiction, go for it. If you like science fiction, and wouldn’t mind trying some romance, go for it, too.  And if you just like long stories, this three-Act tale may be just right for you.
